Microcrystalline Cellulose is a naturally occurring polymer composed of glucose units connected by a 1-4 beta glycosidic bond.

MCC has uses in cosmetics as an abrasive, absorbent, anti-caking agent, aqueous viscosity increasing agent, bulking agent, emulsion stabiliser, slip modifier and texturiser, which can be found in various hair and skin care products as well as make-up.

The MCC is a valuable additive in pharmaceutical, food, cosmetic and other industries. Different properties of MCC are measured to qualify its suitability to such utilization, namely particle size, density, compressibility index, angle of repose, powder porosity, hydration swelling capacity, moisture sorption capacity, moisture content, crystallinity index, crystallite size, and mechanical properties such as hardness and tensile strength.

Microcrystalline Cellulose E460 is a white powder composed of cellulose manufacturing process from high quality wood pulp. It is registered under the CAS number 9004-34-6 and can disintegrate rapidly in water. It is used widely in medicine or food as an emulsifier, stabilizer, and binding agent in tablets.

Storage & Expiration

Store the powder in a cool, dry place away from heat and sunlight. If exposed to humid conditions, the product will absorb moisture, lump together and lose most of its useful properties. When stored properly, the powder typically has a 12-month shelf-life.
